The Department of Labor’s (DOL) overtime regulations will no doubt affect employers’ total compensation budget as well as may cause some employers to reduce other expenditures, like benefits, to deal with the additional payroll costs. It is prudent for employers to now revisit and calculate their benefits and compensation mix to offset the effect of the DOL’s changes to the overtime law, which go into effect on December 1, 2016…just less than 7 months from today!
